FAQ's
Diesel operation:
JetCat Engines are approved for the premium diesel fuels Aral Ultimate and Shell V-Power.
If diesel fuel is used, 5% turbine oil (Aeroshell 500 or JetCat turbine oil) must also be used. The use of antistatic agents (already contained in JetCat turbine oil) is recommended for diesel fuel.
No modifications to the ECU or turbine are necessary.
It should be noted that smoke may form during operation with diesel, especially during starting and stopping. If diesel is used, slight speed fluctuations may occur, especially at idle speed.
Especially with older engines it is possible that they do not start with diesel or accelerate uncleanly. Diesel should not be used here.
Due to the additives, which are beneficial to a piston engine, deposits occur which shorten the maintenance intervals and can lead to higher maintenance costs.
Diesel fuel should not be used for helicopter turbines (single-shaft and twin-shaft turbines)
ECU V10:
Change the pump starting voltage.
The pump starting voltage can be changed in the setup menu.
You reach the setup menu with the GSU by pressing the keys "LIMITS" and then additionally " +" at the GSU, the U-accelr1 is the pump starting voltage. The value can now be changed by pressing the Change Value and the " + " or " - " buttons.
Starter unit does not engage properly or slips (continuous "whistling"):
Due to dust/oil deposits on the compressor nut, it may happen that the clutch of the starter unit slips or does not grip properly. If this is the case the compressor nut has to be degreased/cleaned (e.g. brush with white spirit, spirit or similar). The correct function of the starter can be checked when the turbine is at a standstill, by pressing the IGNITION button (SPOOL button on GSU V2).
Engine switches off because of "WatchDog":
Static charges led to a reset of the ECU.
Soft/ Hardware error of the ECU.
Do not attach the ECU directly to the fiberglass fuselage of the model but on a plywood support with a layer of foam and Velcro.
If the error occurs immediately after the wheels have been lifted off the ground or while the wheels are still rolling
If the tire is not in contact with the road surface, spray the tires with antistatic spray. Also check whether the tires may be grind on the chassis legs (rubber aluminum). In the case of soft tires, it may happen that these only touch the landing gear legs at high speeds due to centrifugal force.
